About ASHE

ASHE is a not-for-profit professional network which provides the following for Headteachers of secondary phase schools in Essex:

• Advice, help and support to avoid colleagues feeling isolated
• Effective communication at local & national level and liaison with agencies; DfE, Heads Associations, National College, EFA, the Regional Schools’ Commissioner, regional Ofsted Director, Local Authority
• Support colleagues in difficult/vulnerable situations including Ofsted, LA & DfE interventions
• Representation on: School Forum, LA Strategic Groups e.g. SACRE, Safeguarding etc
• Professional Development through:
• - conferences
• - new Headteacher Induction
• - SEND, RSE, Teaching & learning and Careers networks
- specific Training Courses linked to national, local and school priorities
• - brokered services

ASHE is not a professional or political association, nor is it a union. ASHE usually takes a neutral stance in conflict situations involving schools. There are two dedicated ex-Headteacher officers working for the Association
